English is a means of communication. Speaking the language we convey our thoughts to the listeners.
Learning to communicate in another language is, in some ways, like learning to dance or to play the piano. It needs a lot of practice. Some language students sometimes think it is enough simply to «know» a grammar rule or a meaning of a word. They do not understand that there is a great difference between «knowing» English and being able to use it correctly. To have a good command of the language you need practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing. There are certain basic things in English that can’t be mastered without great deal of practice.
Reading books is of great help too. A student should read a great deal.
The work of learning English is difficult but rewarding. You will get a feeling of satisfaction and the language will give you a chance to get to know more about the English speaking countries.

It is used as one of the official languages in Canada, the Republic of South Africa and the Irish Republic. It is also spoken as a second language in many parts of India and Africa. Besides, millions of people study English as a foreign language.
Knowing foreign languages is very important nowadays. It’s a sign of good education. Foreign languages are needed as the main and the most efficient means of information exchange between the people of our planet.
English is the language of international communication. Many people whose languages are different, can understand each other if they speak English. It is the language of progressive science and technology, trade and cultural relations, commerce and business. Seventy five per cent of the world’s mail is in English. Half of the world’s scientific literature is written in English. English is spoken by more than 350 million people. Geographically, it is the most wide-spread language on the Earth, second to Chinese in the number of people who speak it.
Today English is the language of the world. It is the language of progressive science and technology, trade and cultural relations, commerce and business. It’s the language of computers, science, business, sports and politics. It is the language used in computers as 90 % of the information is in English. Half of the world’s scientific literature is in English.
English is the language of great literature. It’s the language of William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and others.
