  2. Emily Bronte  (1818-1848) — an English writer famous for her novel  «Wuthering Heights».
  3. Lewis Caroll  (1832-1898) — an English writer famous for his two novels «Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland» and «Through the Looking Glass».
  4. Agatha Christie (1890-1976) — an English writer of many popular books and plays, many of which have been made into films, for example  «The Murder of Roger Ackroyd», «The Lamp», «Philomel Cottage» and many others. Her most popular characters are the detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.
  5. Daniel Defoe (1660-1731) — an English writer  famous for his «Robinson Crusoe»
  6. Charles Dickens (1812-1731) — the greatest English novelist famous for his novels  «Oliver Twist», «A Christian Carol», «David Copperfield», «Great Expectations».
  7. Jerome K. Jerome (1859-1927) — an English writer who wrote humorous books. He is famous for his book «Three Men in a Boat».
  8. Maugham W. Somerset (1874-1965) — a British writer known for his novel «Theatre».
  9. Sir Walter Scott (1771-1828) — a Scottish writer and poet, especially famous for his historical novels, such as «Ivanhoe».

  13. Thomas Hardy (1840-1928) — an English writer and poet, most of his books describe the unhappy side of life. His best known book is «Tess of the D’Urbervilles».
  14. Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) — a Scottish writer, the author of  the best-known adventure story — «Treasure Island» and the horror story — «Doctor Jeckyl and Mister Hyde».
  15. Tolkien J R R (1892-1973) — an English writer best- known for his fantasy books «The Hobbit» and «The Lord of Rings».
  16. Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) — an Irish writer best known for his story «The Picture of Dorian Grey».
  17. Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) — an American write who wrote fantasy, science fiction, horror books. He is best-known for the horror story collection «The Martian Chronicles». 
  18. Joanne Rowling (1965 — …)  — a British novelist, world-famous for a series of fantasy novels about Harry Potter.
